My PT WAS very reliable 24 YEARS
By DOTS | on 7/25/2025 4:11:20 PM
2002 Ltd Inferno red live in mtns/snow country. 170K miles, bougjt new with all options. Paid 20K in 2001. Yesterday I had to say Goodbye to my car because it was totaled while sitting in my driveway during a 2 inch sized hailstorm and the insurance company would not Repair it for$3,700. Could have bought it back, but it was beginning to have an issue with a battery drain. That was not caused by the battery. I suspect I had worn out. My Ignition. Unit so that it wasn't shutting off all the way. Several times in its life, it has overheated and blone radiator juice out of the firewall mounted reservoir, and this has always been when it has. I've been idling a long time.Especially in summer. I think all the head gasket problems could have been avoided if people were more diligent about watching their gauges. I love the car so much because my 2 little dogs can jump into it from the rear easily, and yet it's high enough to deal with the snow. Mine had the sunroof although I didn't use it much. I was amazed that the gaskets around it. We're perfect after 20:04 years. Even though the last five years, it hasn't been garaged. What's not to love about that interior though, all the white light colors and the colored Oval dash thingies. I had just gotten the hood repainted, because the Sun had peeled off the clear coat but didn't mind a bit, I think I was getting 25M. PG after I put some Catalytic converter cleaner in it, but most of the time, it was a solid 22. Like everybody else, oh, forgot to tell you. Mine was a manual. I think they're worth considering if you're looking for a car for your kid or just inexpensive runabout, there's so much storage space in those things that it took me two hours yesterday to clean everything out. Loved that you could move that rear panel into the top slot and put a small barbecue on there and have the hatch. Keep the rain off. I never had the rear seats up, and I always had the front seats, it's covered with sheepskin. So I never appreciated the beauty of the Gray leather and suede combo, but it looked like new yesterday when I emptied the car out to sadly have the savage people hauled away. Due to the hail damage.… - 5.0
HOT ROD PT CONVERTIBLE
By Ricky B | on 6/13/2025 1:48:08 PM
I am fortunate to own one of the rarest versions of the PT Cruisers on the planet. I have searched extensively for one like what I have and returned empty-handed. Now that I have set up the scene and perhaps have your attention, I have a 2006 PT Convertible GT, High Output 2.4 Ltr, with a 230 HP turbocharged engine. The body is HOT ROD RED with a black top, and the special factory chrome wheels are valued at 500 each, which are out of production at this time. I make sure I have wheel locks. Despite what people say, it handles like an actual sports car, easily capable of breaking the front wheel loose on dry surfaces if you are dumb enough to want to do it. I tested several times on the freeway, maneuvering around road obstacles like tire Alagators (Instead of panic braking and maintaining complete control of my PT, at 70 MPH. Regarding cargo carrying capacity, there is plenty of storage in the back seat to load it up with a SAMS Hall with the top down. I did not mention the mileage, which was 36,000 when I purchased it, and now it is around 50,00. I run a special oil that can easily go 10,000 miles between changes, which I rarely do. The bottom line is that if you pull up next to a Red and Black PT convertible like mine and think you want to test it from 0 to 60 mph, you ought to think twice, and you better be packing some heat with what you are driving. So far, I have only had to replace the radiator fan assembly on this car fortunately as I live in FL.… - 5.0
